About the Author
Born and raised in Marseille, Guy Spielmann (Ph.D., Vanderbilt University) is Associate Professor of French at Georgetown University. He was also Associate Director, then Director of the French School, Middlebury College. He has done research, lectured, and published extensively on second language acquisition and performing arts in Early Modern Europe. He has also pioneered work in the scholarly and pedagogical use of information technology. Visit La Page de Guy at www.georgetown.edu/spielmann.

Betsy J. Kerr is an Associate Professor of French at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. She received her Ph.D. in French linguistics from Indiana University and has published in the areas of French syntax and pragmatics, specializing in the analysis of spoken French discourse. At the University of Minnesota, Professor Kerr (formerly Barnes) teaches courses in French language and linguistics. She also serves as advisor to the director of the Lower Division French Program, a position she has held for many years.

Tracy D. Terrell (late) received his Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin and published extensively in the area of Spanish dialectology. Professor Terrell’s publications on second-language acquisition are widely known in the United States and abroad.

Mary Bassett Rogers holds her undergraduate and graduate degrees in French from Vanderbilt University. She taught French at Wichita State University for many years, where she became coordinator for foreign language education and supervised teaching assistants. She served as president of the Kansas Foreign Language Association and was a certified tester for the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview for several years. She has given numerous presentations and workshops on second language teaching and has also taught French and second language pedagogy at Friends University (Kansas). Professor Rogers is co-author of ¡Bravo!, a Natural Approach program for teaching Spanish in secondary and middle schools.

Often Required, Never Useful

This is a required textbook for a University of Minnesota Introduction to French FREN1001 course. The book is useless, but the publisher has cleverly tied the book and class to an even more user-hostile Moodle page, so instructors are march-stepped through the class by a pitiful text and an even worse website. The book is absolutely worthless, unless you already have a firm grasp of the French language.

It's also worth noting that access to the website will cost you another $80 and that will be the least fun you've ever had with $80, including the absolute worst dental appointment you've ever suffered. The homework is bug-ridden and poorly designed. Nothing about the combination of the book and website can be classified as "a learning experience," unless you are cataloging the worst possible ways to teach a subject.

If you're stuck with this book in a class, you're going to need to build a collection of useful texts to survive. "French, Conversational: Learn to Speak and Understand French with Pimsleur Language Programs" by Paul Pimsleur, "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Learning French, 5th Edition" by Gail Stein, "French For Dummies, with CD" by Erotopoulos, Dodi-Katrin Schmidt, Michelle M. Williams and Dominique Wenzel, and my local library got me through the course. I only suffered the class textbook when the instructor assigned pages for class and I really needed those other resources then.

When we invoke the Infinite Release process, we are no longer doing it alone. Instead, we step out of the way, letting go and letting God. We let Universal Intelligence decide how our inner resistances and blocks should be dissolved. All we need to do is to intend that we are clear from these blocks that hold us back. Once the Infinite Release process is invoked, it is done!

The Infinite Release process is so profound and simple because its effectiveness does not depend on the user’s level of belief, or on rationalizing through any of their perceived “problems” in life. This is not a logical problem-solving approach that requires hard work or effort. Instead, the Infinite Release process works through a trinity of three carefully-crafted intentions that result in an infinite loop that drops all disharmonious elements in one's life.

The end result of invoking the Infinite Release process is the creation of an infinite loop that erases all the unconscious blocks / memories that are not in harmony with our higher intentions. Once we are clear from these unconscious beliefs and memories that hold us back, we are free to perceive life from the perspective of the Universe, where manifestations are spontaneous and nothing needs to be changed.

Dotts has a very good, easy to understand approach

His method of explanation is uncomplicated, and he takes the mystery of how to apply the process. Many others drag it out unnecessarily or leave you wondering how you're actually supposed to use the information in a meaningful way to get results. Richard Dotts is very thorough and sincere. He relays the information in a sound and expressive, common sense way, based on teachings from many sources. I also like how he goes into how easy it is to misinterpret some of the information that's out there, which helps when you're trying to manifest because it helps you to avoid some common mistakes.

School Necessity

The book looks brand new and was priced very competitively. Could not even tell that it was used at all. Needed this book for school on short notice and was able to get it quickly without any hassle. While a new edition of this book has come out, there is not much difference with this book other than the worksheets are different and the chapters seem to be rearranged a bit. Overall very satisfied!

About the Author
John Ashcroft is currently a distinguished professor of law and government at the Regent University School of Law. He previously served as Attorney General of the United States for four years. Prior to that, he served one term in the United States Senate from 1995 to 2001 and had served as Governor of Missouri for two terms. As governor, Ashcroft balanced eight consecutive budgets during his terms. Fortune magazine rated him as one of the top 10 education governors. Ashcroft was elected to two terms as attorney general of Missouri prior to serving as governor.

Katherine Ashcroft has served as in-house legal counsel for a private holding company, advising senior management on legal matters, including regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, and business organization. She also spent several years mentoring law students through an externship program sponsored by the St. Louis Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Ashcroft earned her law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law and is a member of the Missouri Bar.

Martha Patterson began her legal career handling complex matters of estate planning and administration in an international law firm. She has considerable experience in state and federal tax law matters. She is currently Of Counsel with a small business transaction and litigation firm, where she focuses on startup, organization, financing, maintenance, and sale of companies. A graduate of Wheaton College with a degree in mathematics and the University of Virginia School of Law, Patterson serves on the board of Rescue: Freedom International, an organization dedicated to providing aftercare for survivors of human trafficking.

Walter Hill, not being able to cope with the expectations of the studio, decided to leave. Many candidates wanted the vacant position of director, but the post was filled by Ridley Scott. It was originally allocated a budget of $4.8 million, but when Scott presented the sketches of his vision of a futuristic setting, the budget was doubled. O'Bannon took an active part in making the film. He convinced the director to return to the original plot with the alien spaceship and he advised him to invite painters Chris Foss and Jean Giraud to the project, both of whom he had previously worked with on Dune. But the main assistance that O'Bannon gave to Scott was in introducing him to the book Necronomicon by Hans Rudolf Giger. The director was amazed by the works of the Swiss painter. Soon Giger proceeded to create the image of a Xenomorph, and became carried away by the process. He also created the design of the alien ship with the eggs and the face-huggers.

This song is not in any of Tom Lehrer's compilations. This is the only sheet music format I have found it in (it is on Youtube). Was really wanting to just play it on the piano. This is a complete choral version. Great for a choir director but I will have to extrapolate a bit and whittle it down to size for the piano. Not a problem, just thought I would mention it.

Good supplementary resource

The strength of this program is that it teaches you a lot of vocabularies as well their pronounciations. It also teaches you some common French expressions.
The weakness of this program is that the learning is pretty dry. You go through about 360 words per one side (45 mins) of the 90 minutes tape, one after another. The words are divided into sections. In the French/English section, a French word is introduced before its English equivalent and vice versa in the English/French section. I didn't find this format very useful. The background music is also too loud and it sometimes make it difficult to hear what the French speaker is pronouncing. Because it throws at you with so many words, the only way to learn them is simply by repetition (to listen to the tapes over and over again until the words are beginning to get stuck in your memory). However, I did start to remember them after a while.
This program should supplement your other French learning programs. The words will only become meaningful if you learn how they are used via reading books, watching television programs, and speaking to others.

First edition showing up in the used category

If you are definitely seeking the second edition, be careful buying this book used from some of the sellers listed on the page. I was definitely NOT purchasing what I thought I was purchasing and had to cancel and order when I realized it. I am specifically looking for the second edition.... a lot more than .75 cents!

Item came with water damage, even though it was supposed to be brand new. Trading it back into Amazon now, should be interesting to see if they give me anything for it. The book itself was extremely helpful in an educational research class.
