you must have it if you design cars

I found it very useful.
it covers quite all the parts related to suspensions and their function.

when theory is explained, it's made rigorously, but always to give you a formula you'll apply pratically: no "tensors" here.
there are a couple of tables and data that helped me much (what toe-in should I use in a street car?)
there are also pictures that helped me to explore new ideas (the pictures are about road cars, and I found them here, not in the web or on other sources).

in the end: if your job is to design road cars (or parts of road cars), I think that soon or later you'll put this book off the shelf and find it very useful.

Engineering from the Germans!

I am amazed by the depth this book goes into! But what can I say, it was originally written by the Germans, masters of anything engineering. The translation seems good, however, there are some minor errors here and there regarding proper wording. The diagrams are all very detailed and very easy to read. The authors went to great lengths to get their point across. I do however have to purchase a few books on basic engineering pricipals seeing as this text is a bit more advanced than my education! Beware, if you do not know what "elastokinematic" means, than you may want to brush up on basic mechanical engineering pricipals like I have to do.

Christy is a senior in high school and can't wait to get out of Flint, Michigan. She probably never will leave, but hearing her father always talk about "chasing tail lights" until they take you where you want to be, gives her the hope she needs to get through the mess that is her life.

In fifth grade, Christy's father died and life has never been the same. Her mother works hard and drinks hard, but doesn't have a kind word for Christy. Christy's half-brother, Ryan, gets their mother's love even though he deserves it the least. Bree, Christy's little niece, has become her responsibility. She cooks, cleans, and does laundry while she keeps an eye on Bree and swears to keep her safe.

School could offer Christy a way to escape Flint, but with so-so grades and sleepless nights that cause her to be late to class or unable to keep her eyes open, things look less than promising for Christy's future. When Christy demonstrates her ability to run, English teacher Ms. Chapman urges her to join the track team. She also supplies Christy with an unending supply of books to read, each one with a message designed to help the young girl cope with her troubling world. But even encouragement from Ms. Chapman and her best friend, Anne, can't get Christy to accept and admit what is happening on the dark side of her life.

CHASING TAIL LIGHTS exposes the sickening underbelly of sexual abuse. Christy, an innocent victim of the ugly crime, fights with determination to better her life and protect those around her. Readers will feel her pain and cheer her accomplishments as she learns to accept her situation and make a plea for help. Patrick Jones, author of Things Change and Nailed, has outdone himself with this one.

The Relationship of Place

I am by all accounts a fan of Jane Hamilton. The Farm, or perhaps The Spirit of Rural America has been a character in nearly all of her novels, sometimes hiding in the background, sometimes taking a prominent role. Upon seeing the cover and reading the blurbs I thought to myself, "Aha, this is it, this at last must be The Farm Novel. Perhaps like Jon Galsworthy with the last of his Forsyte Saga books we will see Jane Hamilton predictable, see her plodding familiar ground." I was honestly afraid.

But this book is as much about farming as The Walking Dead is about zombies or Bob's Burgers is about restaurants; that is to say, not at all. "Everything about the place where you live determines Who You Are." This book is about the relationship of Place. Reading this book is watching a young girl discover and wrestle with that relationship. Even if you don't love the girl or the place you WILL be taken with the struggle.

I finished reading The Excellent Lombards a few hours ago and I still feel as if my heart is about to burst. As a very young man I did not understand this particular sensation of anger, sadness, and loss. Now I recognize it as the familiar mourning of a love affair come to an end. I was expecting to at last see the strings, to at last predict the magician's movements. Instead I am humbled and grateful that such a wizard of the literary craft has bestowed upon us another work of Great American Literature.

Loved it!

I usually enjoy reading other reviews more carefully after finishing the book as a kind of quiet, low effort book group, but this time I really don't care. I loved this book. I am so glad I spent time with it, and I know the story seems simple, but the writing, characters--just a joy.

Beautifully written coming of age story set in a unique and idyllic setting. The plot isn't suspenseful, per-say, but the writing is so lovely that you are transported to the world of Frankie, and that makes the book hard to put down. Would highly recommend.
